Don Larson joined the PTS team as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in December of 2016. His passion for bodybuilding as well as strength and conditioning began at the age of sixteen when he started training at Gold’s Gym of Orland Park. Don graduated from St. Xavier University in Chicago with a Bachelors of Arts Degree and went on to become a professional firefighter/paramedic. Don joined the fire department’s peer fitness team where he received his certification as a ACE Peer Fitness Trainer. He was responsible for conducting department fitness evaluations and developing exercise programs based upon attainment of employee fitness goals
Don has been continuously furthering his education. He received his Master’s of Science in Nursing and Clinical Leadership from Rush University Medical Center where he focused on patient mobility and orthopedics. Upon graduation, Don worked as an orthopedic surgical nurse and as a consultative sales representative for a fortune 500 orthopedic medical device company. Prior to transitioning to PTS, Don worked as a nurse and patient care coordinator for an Integrative Medicine practice.
Don believes in a holistic approach to training. He assesses multiple fitness and wellness markers (e.g., strength, mobility, flexibility, diet, sleep patterns, stress, etc.), and develops customized programs to serve each individual’s unique needs and goals while being empathetic with learners at all stages.
